Our Accessibility Commitment

HomeEssentialsLab provides independent home gear research and testing for practical buying decisions. We believe access to accurate, unbiased product information should be available to everyone — including users who rely on screen readers, keyboard navigation, or other assistive technologies.

We are actively working to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard across all pages on HomeEssentialsLab.com.

Our standard: WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance across all site pages, with ongoing audits and improvements as the site grows.

What We’ve Implemented

The following accessibility features are in place across HomeEssentialsLab.com:

  • Clear typography — We use legible font families, appropriate size hierarchies, and generous line spacing to support readability for users with low vision or dyslexia.
  • High-contrast color standards — Text and interactive elements maintain contrast ratios that meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA thresholds.
  • Keyboard-friendly navigation — All interactive elements including navigation menus, buttons, and links are reachable and operable via keyboard alone.
  • Skip navigation links — A “Skip to main content” link is provided at the top of each page for screen reader and keyboard users.
  • Alt text for meaningful images — Product photos, comparison images, and editorial images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images use empty alt attributes.
  • Semantic HTML structure — Pages use proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and ARIA labels to support assistive technology navigation.

Known Limitations

While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, some areas may not yet meet that standard. Third-party embedded content (such as product widgets or external comparison tools) may have accessibility limitations that are outside our direct control. We are working to identify and address these gaps.

Third-party tools: Some embedded affiliate widgets and external product comparison tools are provided by third parties. If you encounter an accessibility barrier in these elements, please let us know and we will investigate alternatives.

Report an Accessibility Issue

If you encounter a page, feature, or piece of content on HomeEssentialsLab.com that you cannot access due to a disability or assistive technology limitation, we want to hear from you. Please contact us with the following information:

  • The URL of the page where you encountered the issue
  • A description of the barrier you experienced
  • The assistive technology or browser you were using (if applicable)

We will make reasonable efforts to address your concerns promptly and provide the information you need in an accessible format.
